I am catering my own wedding reception for 200 people what would be the best foods to have?

by admin on June 29, 2009

I was thinking mostaccioli, green bean casserole, and salad but I have no idea on how much I should make.

i don't know how much you would make either … wow! umm, well, there's this site that gives you tons of ideas for food, if that helps …

look for a web site that will enhance the amount to 200 people, i believe foodnetwork.com will do that.

also, my suggestions would be to add another (simple) meat
meatballs, rolled chicken sliced, polish sausage, ham etc.
and add a relish tray or two, and a fruit tray.

congrats.

I would definetly be adding other things to this menu such as:
more than one type salad
meat platters
cheese platters
relish trays e.g. pickles, celary, grape tomatos etc.
breads and rolls

you also need dessert platters e.g.squares.cakes

You need an awful lot of food.
For the mostaccioli you will need at least 1/2 to 3/4 lb. per person.
For the green bean casserole you will need 1 cup per person
As for salad,it depends on what type's you are making but plan on at least 1cup per person.

I hope you have access to huge ovens to cook all this food. You will likely need to rent pans large enough to cook and serve it in.
This is a lot of people to serve with this type food if you are preparing yourself. Be aware of storing this food properly at the right temps. till serving time.

Preparing yourself for this many people,it would be much easier to serve cold foods.

have sweet and sour meatballs, chicken tenders, pigs in a blanket, fruit salad, veggies and dip,
these crab tartlets are wonderful:

unless you are having a sit down meal, a lot of finger foods would work fine.
go to http://www.allrecipes.com and look for appetizers and you will find a lot of different ideas. and you can change the serving amount to 200 and it will change the ingredients to match.
